On behalf of the Tibetan Children's Fund, we would like to thank all those who attended this year's annual fundraising event for the Tibetan Children's Fund which took place over the weekend on Saturday 26 November 2011 at the Medicine Buddha Centre. Despite the heavy Melbourne rain, we had over 50 people attend and the evening raised over $2000 and over $1000 in raffle ticket sales, all of which goes to the Tibetan Children's Fund. We wish to acknowledge our sponsors for the raffle this year for their generosity, as well as the on going support of all our sponsors for the children in Tibet. The event was an evening of lovely meditation and chanting by Lama Tendar, presentation of the development of activities in the Kham area, and scrumptuous food provided by Ani Sonam. Thank you to all involved. We look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year! " "Over half of the money raised from the raffle ticket sales came from the generosity of the people from Sydney recently. Thank you to our Sydney supporters who were not even able to attend the event! We would also like to thank Ani Sonam for donating her beautifully painted "Peace Mandala" which is dedicated for world peace and which she has donated for the future of the children in Tibet. We would also like to thank our sponsors, mainly local businesses, for their generous contributions for the event. We would like to thank Sue Lay for donating a massage, Sheryl Foo for donating a reiki session and many others. "Thank you also to Yong Kooi for preparing home made vegetarian spring rolls, filo pastry and steamed wonton and to Stan for providing us with three platters of Subway rolls." To add the final gloss to the evening, attendants were able to have their photo taken with Lama Tendar. The photography was provided for by our very own TCF webmaster and one of the TCF directors, Stan Gemlitski. Photos will be available at the Medicine Buddha Centre soon for collection or can be mailed out for your convenience. The photos which cost $35, are personally blessed by Lama Tendar, and proceeds go to the Tibetan Children's Fund. It is hoped that this opportunity will be offered again at our New Years event (visit www.Tendar.net for more details). We would further like to acknowledge the following people for their contribution to the Tibetan Children's Fund : Anna Greig and Paul Wood for their fundraising walk in Tasmania in December of 2010 to raise money for the children in Kham. Over $4000 was raised through the generous donations of their friends and family around the world via the Tibetan Children's Fund website. Thank you Anna And Paul! Lisa Alati's 15 years old daughter from Dural, NSW for raising money to help a Tibetan boy carry out an eye operation which saved his vision last December 2010. Sonam Chudin , a boy also 15 years of age, traveled from Kham region, Eastern Tibet to Chengdu with the assistance of the generosity of the Australian people to have an eye operation in order to correct and save his vision. Sonam is now a monk living in Kham. Lisa's daughter was able to raise over $1000 from her local school in time for Sonam's eye operation. Thank to all who contributed to Sonam Chudin's eye operation and allow him to see properly again. Thank you Stan for providing us with this year's Tibetan Children's Fundraising event invitation . Thank you for designing and sponsoring the printing of the invites. Thank you to Cameron and Birri at Insight Magazine in Brisbane for always supporting Lama Tendar and the Tibetan Children's Fund. Thank you for always featuring us in Insight Magazine. And lastly, thanks go to James Terry of Illuma Design and Morgan Buchanan your ever enthusiastic willingness to help with the Tibetan Children's Fund flyers. Thank you for your time and providing us with your skills in brochure design and computer knowledge. We have had a very successful year. Not only did Stage II of the school and monastery building project commence in Kham, we have had the good fortune to meet new friends here this year and attract new sponsors for the children and monks in Kham, Eastern Tibet. We look forward to a very successful 2012. May all children in the world be educated and have peace in their lives. From Lama Tendar and the team of the Tibetan children's Fund Thank you for helping us help the Children. Thukje - Che.
