Education

As human beings, we are blessed with human intelligence which has unlimited potential and when used positively can benefit infinite beings.

To achieve this, we need to train and develop our mind. In this respect, we believe that every child has the right to education.

In the Kham region, Eastern Tibet, due to a lack of facilities and funding from families, education is not available to all children in the villages. It is hoped that in the future, a local school can be established to serve the children in Chinpo region of Kham.

This project will rely heavily on help from abroad; on everything from donations of school books and pens, uniforms, shoes, classroom furniture, logistical support from international shipping companies to monetary funding of employing a local teacher.

It is in the children that the future of Tibet lies.

Healthcare

In some of the remote parts of Eastern Tibet, basic healthcare is unavailable. A simple visit to the nearest doctor may take up to 2 days' travel.

We hope to develop a local clinic which will provide healthcare to the immediate community and educate locals in preventative healthcare and treating simple medical conditions.

Dego Samdupling Monastery

Our cornerstone building project – a centre for learning

Traditionally in Tibet, the monasteries are centres of learning. It is in the monasteries that education, knowledge and wisdom are offered, enhanced and proliferate.

Monks are regarded as high teachers who are custodians of the precious Dharma, the guide which Buddhists rely on in the attainment of inner peace and personal happiness.

Dego Samdupling Buddhist monastery is located in the Kham region of the Gelug-pa tradition. Over the years, the monastery has been destroyed and is in desperate need of restoration in order for the monks to have a home and centre for learning for the children.

The reconstruction of Dego Samdupling monastery is the main building project which the Tibetan Children's Fund has made a firm commitment to as it is through the monastery that education and healthcare will flourish.

The Dego Samdupling Monastery building project requires funding for the basic building materials, employment of valuable trades people and reliable logistical aid. This will be an ongoing project as the cornerstone and foundation for future projects.

The monastery is a crucial monument to every village in Tibet as it forms the basis and foundation for the practice of compassion and wisdom.

Your valuable donation and support will enable us to restore the monastery as a vital facility for the children of Kham.
